Every child deserves to be safe.
Education Bridge has a zero-tolerance policy for any harm, abuse, or neglect of children and young people in our programmes.
We take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously, not as a compliance requirement, but as a fundamental obligation to the children, families, and communities who trust us.Our Child Protection Policy is grounded in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and applies to every member of staff, volunteer, contractor, and affiliate who works with or alongside children in any Education Bridge programme.
Our Approach
Prevention We address safeguarding risks before they arise. This includes organisational policies and codes of conduct, regular capacity building for all personnel, and ongoing awareness-raising across our schools and programmes. We recognise that girls and boys may face different safeguarding risks, and our policies are designed with gender equality and non-discrimination as core principles.
Recruitment & Screening Every person who joins Education Bridge, whether as an employee or volunteer, should undergo a screening process before working with children. This includes certificates of good conduct, police reference checks or equivalent, and reference checks specific to suitability for working with children. All personnel are required to sign an acknowledgement confirming they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with our Child Protection Policy.
Training & Awareness All staff complete safeguarding training before beginning work, and participate in ongoing training throughout their time with Education Bridge. We ensure that every person in our network understands what constitutes abuse, how to recognise signs of harm, and how to respond appropriately.
Child Participation We create environments where children feel safe to raise concerns, understand their rights, and know what resources are available to them.
Reporting Education Bridge maintains clear, accessible reporting mechanisms for both children and staff. Any safeguarding concern, however minor it may seem, should be reported immediately. Reports are treated confidentially and acted upon promptly.
Where there are reasonable grounds to suspect child abuse, Education Bridge personnel are required to report to the Chief Executive Officer and relevant school Principal, and to work with appropriate governmental authorities and the child’s parent or legal guardian in accordance with applicable law.
Response & Follow-Up All responses to safeguarding concerns prioritise the best interests and safety of the child. We work in conjunction with relevant authorities, specialists, and caregivers where appropriate, and retain full written records of all reports and actions taken. Every incident is followed by a process of organisational review to ensure we learn and improve.
Sanctions Any member of staff found to have committed child abuse is immediately suspended pending investigation and, where the allegation is substantiated, terminated with cause. Terminated personnel are not permitted to re-enter Education Bridge premises or participate in any Education Bridge activities.
Consent & Privacy Children and their parents or legal guardians are provided with full information before participating in any Education Bridge programme or activity. Written informed consent is required before any images, recordings, or personal information relating to a child are used in any context. Personal information about children is never disclosed to third parties except in accordance with our privacy policy or as required by applicable law.
