Life at Greenbelt: Budding Entrepreneurs

Kur Peter & Kuot Agol

Business Integrated Unit (student enterprise).

In early 2019, Peter Kur, a senior student at Greenbelt, started Business Integrated Unit, a small nonprofit aimed at helping transform African communities by providing people with the basic resources they need. Along with six other students, he drafted a request for 22,000 SSP (50 USD) to get started helping people. Once this was granted, they got to work, fighting the long fight against poverty. After two months of operation, they received another 10,000 SSP (25 USD), and Peter paid this money out to people who were helping him manage the organization.

Due to this hard work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, Peter Kur was accepted into the African Leadership Academy (ALA) in South Africa, a prestigious two-year program that shapes Africa’s future leaders. Peter started classes at ALA this past year, but he left the organization in the hands of younger students at Greenbelt so they could carry on the legacy of working to help those most in need in their community.
