Support Our Work
SPONSOR A teacher: $1,800 usd
One of the biggest problems facing public schools in South Sudan is teacher absenteeism. The South Sudanese government often delays the payment of teacher wages, and as a result, teachers often do not show up to class. To avoid this problem, we privately fund and distribute our teacher salaries. We offer our teachers a competitive wage–$150 USD per month–and we make sure that we pay them on time each month. For $1,800 USD, you sponsor one of our teachers for an entire year. After you make your donation, we will contact you with the profile and information of a teacher you have helped sponsor.
SPONSOR A STUDENT: $300 USD
With $300 USD, you can provide tuition, school supplies and lunch for a female student or a student with financial needs for an entire academic year. When we offer scholarships to female students, we ask their parents not to arrange marriage for their daughter for the duration of her secondary education. We do this to ensure that our girls stay in school: child marriage is the primary reason why females have a 16 percent literacy rate in South Sudan. Aside from girls, we also offer scholarships to students with financial needs. After we make our selection, we will contact you with the profile and information of the student you have sponsored.
GENERAL SUPPORT: Any Amount
More than 80 percent of South Sudan's population live on under $1 USD per day. If our school were to charge full tuition, most of our students would not be able to attend school. In order to maintain the quality of their education, we have to heavily subsidise their tuition using donations from people like yourself. Any amount that you are willing to donate will be helpful to our mission; for example, $30 can buy lunch for one student for an entire school term, while $5 can buy school supplies for one student.
